52 Weeks of Murphy - 4/52

My Grandpawrents came down for a visit this weekend. There was big surf at La Jolla, and the tide was high so we went up to watch the waves.

Well, they watched the waves...I watched the birds! There were lots of them everywhere!

52 weeeks of Murphy - 3/52

After spending all of Saturday morning at Fiesta Island, running around like a mad dog with Mom pointing that flashy camera beasty at me over and over and over again, she decided to go with this picture for our 3rd week of the challenge.

Mom was hoping to get an action shot of me to use, and while she did get lots of them she ended up liking this one the best. Phew, Im glad that's over....now at least I might have a small rest from the flashy beast!

And the sun shone down, and life was once again as it should be...

The sun is back!!

First thing this morning, I woke Mom up to tell her this. It was an important piece of news and I just couldn't believe she was sleeping thru it!

After her morning ritual of showering (sheesh...I'm sure glad I don't hafta take a bath every day!), we headed over to Fiesta Island. Mom said no beach cuz the water gets full of cooties after a big rainstorm, and no dog park cuz it would be too muddy, so Fiesta Island it was.

And guess what I did when we got there.

I ran

and ran

and ran

and ran

until I couldn't run no more.

so then I plopped down in this nice comfy spot and took a rest.

it was a good morning.

A very rainy week

Its been raining like crazy here in Sandy Eggo. For us wimpy doggies who live here, we are just not used to this kinda weather.

Average rainfall for Sandy Eggo is normally less than 12 inches, FOR THE ENTIRE YEAR!

somebody obviously doesn't know how to spell Sandy Eggo

Yes, January can be one of the wettest months but even then the average for January is less than 2.5 inches. This series of storms have given us almost 5 inches since Monday! Yesterday Mom said her rain gage had almost 2 inches in it for a 10 hour period! I sure hope someone around here is buildin a boat!

Because it's been so rainy, I've been completely cooped up in the house all week. There have been a few breaks in the rain so Mom has gotten to take me for a few walkies, but even then we've been caught up in a surprise rain shower a time or two.

After my earlier adventure in the front yard this week, Mom has banned me from the front yard until it dries out a bit. At this rate, that will be NEVER! My only outside time the entire week has either been on a leash, or in the back yard (with very few mud puddle opportunities, let me tell you) under close supervision.

Finally today it cleared up for a little bit, so Mom threw me in the car and off we went.

I was hopin we were headed to the dog park, but Mom had other plans. Mom said dog park would also be too muddy to run around in safely. She always worries I'll hurt myself when I run on wet grass or dirt. Says I'm not coordinated enough and that I'll slip and slide and blow my knee out or sumthin. What a worry wart.

So instead Mom decided to take me to another park and so we could have a nice walkie. On the way to the park I got to see some of the damage caused by the high winds here this week. Since we don't get much rain in Sandy Eggo, the trees around all have pretty shallow roots. Once the ground gets saturated and the high winds kick up, this is the result.

Good thing no one was in this car!

maybe when they fix the roof, they'll take the time to repaint a new color? I'm just sayin!

Don't worry...dat's not Mom's car, or Mom's house. But someone is sure not gonna be happy when they get home from work tonight!

Once we got to the park, Mom pulled out the flashy boxy thingy. Oh yeah...its week 3 of the 52 weeks of dogs project. Since its been so rainy out, this is the first chance Mom's had to get any pictures of me.

While I think I look pretty dang handsome in all of these, Mom's not quite sure they are "52 weeks of dogs" worthy. So, she's postin them here for now.

Murph-zilla has come to stomp your buildings!

This is what I think of that flashy box (see my tongue!)

my contemplatative pose

After a bit of posing, me & Mom went for a nice long walkie. She din't get any pictures during the walkie cuz she says she's not coordinated enough to walk and take pictures at the same time.

Tomorrow the forecast is for more rain, but then its suppose to be back to our regular sunny weather for the rest of the weekend. That dang weatherman better be right!

Rainy days and Mondays...

Its raining.

A lot.

So...I do what I do best when there is dirt and water mixed together.

I have FUN!

Mom dint think it was very funny though.

She has no appreciation for my fine art of landscaping.

I just got a lil dirty.

See...the mud doesn't even go all the way up my legs!

And there's just a smidgen on my schnoz.

I heard sumwhere that a mud bath was good for the skin.

I'm almost 1 you know.

Gotta keep this face soft and supple.

Wouldn't wanna get any wrinkles.

Ok, maybe the mud goes a bit farther up in the back.

it was dark out, it was kinda hard to see.

maybe I got a lil carried away

Yup, Mom doesn't appreciate the finer side of mud.

52 weeks of Murphy - 2/52

My photo of the week is another sunset picture. Do you sense a theme here?

Mom is going to have to work hard to be creative, even though I love love love the beach!

There are lots of interesting clouds in the sky...Mom says that's cuz a storm is comin in. Suppose to start raining here on Monday and not stop for a little while. Yeah, right Mr. Weatherman...I'll believe it when I see it. This is Sandy Eggo, afterall!

52 Weeks of Murphy 1/52

This 52 weeks of dogs is gonna be LONG! Hopefully Mom gets better at her photography skills, cuz she had to take like 1 billion gagillion photos of me to get one she liked! Sheesh...it shouldn't be that hard when you have a most handsomest subject like me, should it?

Official Entry for Mango Minster 2010

One of our favorite & relentlessy huge doggie bloggers, Mango, is putting on a dog show...Mango Minster 2010. Its much better than that West Minster hoidy toidy dog show that gets put on each year. This one is actually judged by doggies who know doggies, not stuffy old bipeds who THINK they know doggies.

There are several Groups for us doggies to enter. These are according to the official rules of Mango Minster and are completely not made up at all.

Cat Dogs - Some doggies are, well, CATS. Right? So if you are a cat which is actually not a dog, never fear, you can enter here (hey, that's like a poem).

Hound Dogs - Do you bay at the moon? Become deaf when your snooter is engaged? Run fast on long legs? This is your category.

Herding Dogs - All you guys and gals who love to round things up enter here (yes, even Border Collie dogs which are not actual doggies, but alien beings from the planet Agility).

Sporty Dogs - If you do a sport or are basically a good sport about life, then you are a Sporty Dog.

Non-Sporty Dogs - Bad dog! Bad dog! Grouchy? Sore loser? You know who you are.

Hard Working Dogs - Have a job? This one is for you.

Cracker Dog Insane Terriers (CDIT) - Let's face it, first of all, we are Relentlessly Huge terrier fans here at the estate. Plus there just is nothing like a terrier.

Mom has decided to enter me in the sporty dog group. I think dis picture shows that not only am I an excellent breed standard for the sporty dog group because I am an expert participant of doggie bootcamp, but it also demonstrates my exceedingly good sportiness nature in attending these classes with Mom.

I know Im in most excellent shape and have the most handsomest hiney, but I go to keep Mom company and encourage her in her fitness quest.

What could be more good sporty than that, I ask?

Hopefully the judges find my sportiness to be best in show. I know they are all super duper smart doggies, and if any way I can sway them with bribies of pressies and/or foodable, I plan on doing so.

wish me luck!

New Years day romp with the cousins

Mom and me met up with my fur-cousins at Fiesta Island for a mid-day romp. Mom's friends, Allison & Tod have 3 Great Danes....Toby (beautiful brindle!), Marley (regal black beauty!) and Oliver (white & black boy). The weather in Sandy Eggo was perfect as usual...high 60's along the coast with not a cloud in the sky.

Tide was super low, so there was lots of beach to run on.

Oliver & me hit it off right away. We've met up at the beach before, but hadn't done much playing during that visit. Prolly cuz it was before I was tutored and I kinda had a bit of a humpin obsession with Toby. Since my tutoring, I am a completely different kinda boy!

Here's me & Ollie tryin to fly. I think with a little more speed, our ears should be able to provide us with the lift of we need. Whaddya think?

Oliver likes to swim just as much as I do, so both of us were in the water alot! Toby & Marley kept lookout from the safety of the beach.

After discussing it with Oliver...I think we are both gonna try and become bird dogs. They sure are fun to chase! (can you see the bird in the water on the left side of the picture?)
